Features

The Profitec Pro 700 has been designed with functionality and quality in mind in order to meet the needs of the most demanding coffee aficionados. It boats a built-in shot timer, a PID temperature control and two high quality dual pressure gauges. When it comes to dual boilers, they feature very powerful heating elements that ensure the fast preparation of any type of coffee based drink, while the rotary motor itself is very powerful and quiet at the same time.

The reservoir has a capacity of three liters and the machine can also be plumbed in (when it is, users can take advantage of its pre-infusion capability). The hot water arms and the no burn steam wand can be controlled via the turn knobs.

In terms of design, the Profitec Pro 700 immediately stands out thanks to its shiny metal finish. From the logically placed interior parts to the sturdy perforated metal grate, this model is built like a tank and it’s certainly going to offer users many years of reliable operation.

Shot Timer and Dual PID Temperature Controller

The integrated dual PID carefully monitors the temperature of the steam boilers and the brew system in order to ensure maximum precision. On top of that, the PID can also be used as a shot timer.

E61 Brew Group and Thermosyphon System

The E61 system is generally used in professional grade espresso machines and it’s well known for being able to excellently keep temperatures at certain degrees. The thermosyphon system heats up the E61 constantly with heated water. In order to aid in the extraction process, the pre-infusion cylinder of the E61 wets the grounds using low pressure water.

Dual Boiler Brewing

Given the fact that the Profitec Pro 700 features 2 boilers, you can steam and also brew concomitantly. Not only that, but the dual boiler system also helps ensure temperature stability.

Rotary Pump

Compared to vibration pumps, the rotary pump runs a lot quieter and makes it possible to also plumb-in the Profitec Pro 700 into the water line (directly). As for the reservoir, it’s a three-liter type that features a low volume sensor which is going to shut off the machine automatically when the water level is too low.

Dual Pressure Gauges

The dual gauges of the Profitec Pro 700 effectively display the boiler and internal pump pressure on the front, making it easier for users to keep an eye on things.

Pros:

  1. The Profitec Pro 700 uses a rotary motor, which makes using it a lot quieter.
  2. Taking the machine apart is very simple and allows users to easily clean it.
  3. Thanks to the fact they’re fitted with a spring, the hot water and steam knobs are a joy to use.
  4. You can use the water tank directly or just plumb it in.
  5. High quality stainless steel boilers.
  6. E61 group head.
  7. Given the fact that they feature a Teflon tube, the hot water wand and the steam wand do not get hot.
  8. The two-level steel grate of the drip tray allows users to prepare short shot cups or glasses without having to worry about the drink splashing everywhere.
  9. The Profitec Pro 700 features dual boilers, meaning that you do not have to wait between steaming the milk and pulling the shot as it’s the case with single boiler machines. As a result, you’ll save a lot of time.

Cons:

  1. The machine is quiet heavy, but the truth is that if you have an open space kitchen and a large countertop, this shouldn’t be a problem.
  2. Descaling the double boilers may be challenging at times.
  3. In order for the machine to heat up you need to wait for more than fifteen minutes.

Final Verdict: Should You Buy This Model?

The Pro 700 is the ideal choice for those who are looking for something more than a good espresso machine. In fact, it’s for those who are looking for an excellent espresso machine that is capable of brewing some of the most delicious and tastiest coffee based drinks you’ve ever had. The dual boiler operation, the large three liter water tank, but also the E61 Brew Group and dual pressure gauges among other features make the Pro 700 one of the best espresso machines ever made. On top of that, given the fact that it’s built like a tank and looks simply amazing, it’s certainly going to attract a lot of attention and compliments from everyone that’s going to drop by for a chat and a quick cup of coffee.

Comparable Models to consider

Quickmill Andreja: The Andreja is an impressive espresso machine that seems to share similar features with the Pro 700, but it’s a lot cheaper.

Breville BES920XL Dual Boiler: If you’re the type who doesn’t want to let go of the important features that the Pro 700 has, then you may want to consider the BES920XL. Great operation, excellent build quality and a much lower price.

Breville BES980XL Oracle: If you’re not into heavy espresso machines that also take up too much space, then you may want to give the BES980XL a try. It features dual Italian pumps with PID, but also dual stainless steel boilers which should be enough to prepare delicious espressos, cappuccinos or macchiatos. On top of that, you can also descale the boilers yourself.
