Jura Impressa C65 Automatic Coffee Machine Review

Automatic coffee machines can make your life easier than ever before. If you love making coffee but hate having a separate bean grinder and heating up your milk, you’ll love a super automatic machine like the Jura Impressa C65 Automatic Coffee Machine (View on Amazon.com). We looked at all the top models from Jura when deciding which ones to review and found that this model easily outdoes many of its competitors.

Some of the features that we like include the rotary dials or knobs on the front. Those knobs make picking the type of coffee you want to make, changing the water temperature and even deciding on your coffee strength a snap. It also comes with its own built-in burr grinder that you can adjust with those dials. The C65 delivers the rich coffee drink that you want every day.

Features

One Switch

Instead of featuring a lot of buttons to press and knobs to turn like other machines do, the C65 comes with just one switch that controls almost everything. Use that switch to select from 11 language settings, temperature controls and other features. Your selections show on the plain text display.

ThermoBlock Heating System

Thanks to the ThermoBlock Heating System that comes on the C65, you can now get the hot coffee that you want quickly. That system keeps the water inside the machine at the optimum temperature and produces hotter coffee too. The coffee comes out so hot that it stays hotter in your cup.

Hot Water Feature

When you’re in the mood for something that isn’t coffee, use its dedicated hot water feature. The water comes out hot enough for steeping with teabags. You can also use that hot water for mixing with powdered hot chocolate or instant coffee.

Larger Bar

The 15-pump high-performance bar used in the C65 does an amazing job of mixing the coffee beans in the brewing chamber with enough hot water to produce an almost roasted scent. That bar also ensures that you get every drop of flavor from each bean in your cup.

Set Your Strength

No matter what strength you’re in the mood for, he C65 lets you select your own strength. The highest strength setting creates coffee that can almost stand up on its own. A lower setting creates a weaker cup that still has all the flavor you crave.

Plain Text Display

Located on the left side of the machine’s front and right above the rotary switch is a plain text display. This display shows you in a bold red color the settings that you chose and other features. You can use that text when changing languages too.

Coffee Spout

Like other automatic coffee machines, the C65 comes with adjustable spouts on the front. Those spouts drop down for filling traditional espresso cups and rise up for accommodating taller latte macchiato cups. This lets you prevent spills and splashes.

Aroma+

Jura included its aroma+ system on the Impressa C65 to help you grind beans in up to half as fast as other Impressa machines do. That system features a unique angle on the cutting area to push all beans straight down as those beans grind. You’ll spend less time grinding and waste fewer beans.

Fine Foam Frother

The C65 also comes with the fine foam frother technology created by Jura. This helps you add milk foam to your cup, even if you just want some milk on top of traditional coffee. The wand adjusts to fit across your cup too.

Easy Cleaning

Cleaning the C65 is easy. You simply adjust the dial to select the cleaning mode, add your Jura cleaning tablet and some water and wait for the machine to finish the cleaning cycle.

Ground Coffee Bypass

Make decaf coffee with this machine as easily as you can make a cappuccino with the ground coffee bypass door. This door pops open and lets you pour that ground coffee inside. It bypasses the standard chamber to brew coffee without any caffeine affecting the coffee from the residue left behind in that chamber.

Steam Pressure

When brewing espresso, the C65 uses just the right amount of steam pressure. This gives the finished espresso the same flavor you would expect to find in a restaurant.

Water Filtration

The C65 comes with the CLEARYL water filter found on other Jura machines. This filtration system pulls in the water you add to the reservoir and runs it through a filter to remove impurities.

Pros

More Aroma: One of the most loved features about the C65 is its aroma+ grinder, which gets more aroma from all the beans you love. The grinder has a conical design that helps pull the beans from the hopper and then force those beans into the brewing chamber. It also has an angled design to ensure that all beans reach the cutting surfaces.

Three-Step Operation: Jura designed this model for operating with just three steps. You turn the knobs to make your choices, press a button to let the machine make that coffee and grab your finished drink. Keeping a cup under the spout lets you enjoy each cup even faster.

No More Splashes: Thanks to the adjustable spouts on the C65, you’ll never again need to clean up coffee spills and splashes. Those spouts adjust from a minimum height of 2.6-inches to a maximum height of 4.4-inches. The closer the spouts are to your cups, the fewer splashes you’ll see.

Compact Shapes: If you think that the C65 is too big for your kitchen, think again. It actually has a compact shape designed to take up less space than other models to help you save on storage space.

Cons

Fingerprints Everywhere: While we like the sleek design of the C65, we don’t like its shiny finish. That finish lets fingerprints show up across the front and back. If you live with kids, you may not like how often you need to clean it.

Automatic Steam Wand: Super automatic machines often come with an automatic steam wand. The steam wand on this model only comes with a few settings. It won’t let you add a thicker layer of foam, and it may not produce as much steam or forth as you would like.

Final Verdict: Should You Buy This Model?

The Jura Impressa C65 Automatic Coffee Machine is an impressive coffee system that comes in a compact design. We recommend this model for those living in apartments and smaller spaces as well as those who live with coffee lovers. Its large tank and bean hopper can store all the beans and water needed for making multiple cups, and it can hold quite a bit of milk for cappuccinos and similar drinks too. While the fine foam frother on the C65 doesn’t work exactly like some would like, it works well for those who want a little bit of foam or milk to go with their morning coffees.

Its height adjustable spouts is another great option. These spouts move to accommodate both smaller and larger cups, and you can even use both to fill an oversize mug. Rotary dials on the C65 make selecting drinks easy too. An easy to use design and great features make the Impressa C65 one of the leading models from Jura.

Comparable Models to Consider

Gaggia Accademia Espresso Machine (View on Amazon.com)

If you love coffee but hate cleaning out your machine, you’ll love that the Gaggia Accademia comes with an automatic cleaning function. Not only does this feature let you clean it with the touch of a button, but it will even let you know when it needs cleaning via its digital display. Designed for crowds, the machine lets you program it to make just seven cups or up to 10 cups in one cycle. You’ll also like the larger bean hopper that comes with an aroma saving lid and its ceramic bean grinder, which functions like a commercial grinder.

Saeco Magic Cappuccino and Espresso Machine (View on Amazon.com)

Make cappuccino and espresso without sacrificing a lot of space in your kitchen with this Magic model from Saeco. It comes with a 68-ounce water reservoir and a patented frothing attachment that produces more foam and a thicker froth. Saeco designed the filter for working with both ground coffee and with coffee pods, and the manufacturer includes 12 pods to help you get started. A 15-bar internal pump provides the full espresso flavor that you need. You’ll also get espresso cups and saucers that store right on top of the machine.

Gaggia Titanium Super Automatic Espresso Machine (View on Amazon.com)

With this Gaggia model, you can make espresso and other coffee drinks that have bold flavors. An aroma preservation lid snaps into place to extend the life of your beans and to keep those beans tasting fresh. Those beans move right into the conical burr grinder, and you can use the menu feature to change the type of grind used. Rapid steam technology helps you get frothed milk in a fraction of the time, and the frothing wand gives you more control over that milk. Gaggia also added a larger 60-ounce water reservoir to this model.
